Moving from mainstream to SEN after ECT2

I'm an ECT 2 currently working in a mainstream primary school. Its a great school and there's lots which I enjoy about my role there but I'm wondering if its time to consider a change. I worked for a long time in SEN roles, support worker and 1:1 in mainstream and SEN school/college mostly before training as a teacher. I've also worked at a Saturday club for children with SEN and am still involved in voluntary work in this area. I still feel very much part of that world iyswim. I'm wondering how easy it would be at this stage to make the move from mainstream to SEN and how that might be viewed by my current school. I really appreciate all they've invested in me and do worry how it might look to leave in July.

Sounds like SEN Education is where your heart is. I’m sure you would be a strong candidate if you were to apply for jobs in Special Ed.
You need to think of your career path and plan for the future.

I was going to say no gain more experience in 'normality' based on the thread title but having read your OP.i would say go for it.

Schools are usually sad/unhappy to see people go but it is also perfectly normal for people to move around every few years if they want to. Go for it!

I should say I've worked in SEN and mainstream so my 'normality' term isn't meant to be in any way denigrating to the SEN sector. I loved it and might well go back myself one day.
