Ofsted result

My school had ofsted today and tomorrow. My understanding is that SLT will get the result at some point tomorrow afternoon/evening. Is it normal practice for that to be shared with the staff? What if staff are also parents?

They are now allowed to share with staff if they wish (this used to not be the case, but it is about wellbeing for head teachers). The staff should keep it confidential and not tell parents until the official report is out.

They can share with staff (our head did) but it is otherwise confidential until published.

Best of luck!

Our recent result was shared with staff that evening (about 6:30pm). Parents can't know until the report is published in case anything is contested (usually around a month later, by which time most have lost interest 😂 ).

I've been teaching for 15 years. I've had 4 Ofsted inspections during that time, at 3 different schools, and have always been told that same evening.

If staff are also parents their role as staff trumps that (you can't let some staff know and not others!). They just need to keep it confidential.

Results always on the final day of the inspection - SLT are all told first on the evening - then a 7.30am meeting is called for staff the next day or the Monday if the inspection is a Friday to go through the result and any feedback on what needs to change. As a HT and a leadership team, they should be well aware of the improvements required.

Due an OFSTED any time now. I was drafted in to lead change in my current school following the departure of the previous Headteacher who had resigned just after the last OFSTED inspection after being rated as RI - along with some safeguarding concerns too.

The school is in a good place now so I’m not concerned - 12 months of hard work done - and I’ve got another 13 months to go before I retire in August 2026.

If they don’t come in the next couple of weeks, I would fully expect them in the first term of the next academic year.
