Returning to teaching

I’ve recently stepped away from teaching to a desk based role for the LA. However it’s driving me insane and I’m bored to tears. I’m seriously thinking about heading back into the classroom for September?
I’ve been teaching a while but recently have worked my way round several SEN roles. This would be a return to mainstream… the school seems lovely and it would be a PT role. But is it madness to want back in?

Complete madness! I had a friend who returned, she lasted a week! Don’t do it! Remember why you left in the first place and if you’re not happy in your current role then why not look for a new non teaching role?

Do not return! I am leaving the profession in the summer, currently off sick. The children are feral since covid, the profession is full of young managers who like to bully, the curriculum is too packed to get through, workload is insane (working to midnight and every weekend), parents are mostly thugs, don't do it. There are plenty of other jobs that arnt boring!

Are you currently part time? Could you go back into Schleswig as a volunteer before you totally commit. Then you will get a feel for being back in school again.

I too am leaving in 20 school days (& counting) 29 years and I've had enough.

Don't, just don't. I'd love to leave but am trapped by the salary and children at university to support. The stress is considerable.

I’ve only been out of school for a few months - I had to leave the last role for health reasons - I was assaulted in KS4 SEN. So am well aware of how it can be…
This is a different age group where the risks are simply not as high (KS1). The desk job still involves dealing with parents (and very fed up ones at that) but with none of the ‘good bits’ - the fun! ( and yes the holidays and the fact that I can work part time and earn a similar salary). I also live in an area where there aren’t just ‘loads of other jobs’ especially ones which pay above minimum wage…

I’ve just done this, LA back to KS1 SEND. Yes holidays and the higher salary was a prompt, but the LA has its own issues and toxicity too!
I’ve gone back to a HT I trust, tbh pt I think it’s manageable. Schools vary. I’ve recently seen for example people on Ups3+tlr return to M5/6 in the right school and be happy having left awful trusts.

Don't do it.

I'm no longer a 'proper' teacher but I have a zero hours contract in my old school and do occasional supply.

Lovely school, sensible HT, 'nice' area. Staff are absolutely overwhelmed by workload and basic behaviour is becoming worse and worse every year.

Maybe look for another non teaching part time job and do some volunteer work or tutoring if you miss the nice bits of teaching.
