Restorative Practices in Primary Schools

Hi mumsnet community!

Do you work in a primary school that uses Restorative Practices? If so - I want to hear from you!

I'm a London-based primary teacher currently doing an MA in Primary Education for which I am conducting research on primary educators' experiences of and perspectives on restorative practices. Restorative approaches to behaviour are increasingly popular in UK schools and it is crucial that we understand the conditions under which they can be implemented effectively, as well as their benefits and limitations.

I'm particularly interested in whether they are being used alongside other behaviour systems in schools (or as stand alone policies) and their impact on children's behaviour.

If you or anyone you know work in a school that has implemented restorative practices for a year or more, and are interested in sharing your experiences over a 30 minute in-person/online interview, please comment and I can send you further details.

Many thanks,
Mia :)

Restorative practices is more often than not implemented incorrectly and has definitely contributed to the massive decline in behaviour standards over the past 15 years or so. I disagree that it’s increasingly popular in schools, quite the opposite in fact.

Foostit - You're quite right with the clarification; I meant widespread rather than popular. If you're interested in sharing more of your views, my email is [email protected]. I'd love to hear from you!
