Permanent teaching job 45-55 min drive away or long term agency job 15-20 min drive!? Would you take the perm job? April Start or try again for September somewhere closer?

So I really wanted an April staff job and this is the only interview that will be based in year group I like and starts April rather than September. I will be m5 September and most schools would rather take an ECT sadly. The interview is Friday. I cannot decide if it’s worth going and getting a feel. If anyone knows the area it will be in Edmonton London whereas I live in Hertfordshire, there’s a possibility we could move closer in a year but not definite- to say with partners parents in a nearer location. Now that area will be jam packed with traffic because I worked in the area several years back.

I really don’t know what to do. Cancel interview,go to interview?

Is ir really worth commuting such distance for a teaching job.

Do I just try again for September?

I can't see why you wouldn't go and get a feel for the place.

Have you worked out how much better off you would be on an outer London salary? The difference can be significant.

I wouldn't look at the permanent job due to the distance. For me, a 30 minute commute is my maximum as I know that I'll be working at school from 08.00am until 5.45pm and later on events like discos and parents' evenings. Jobs will be coming up now as Easter approaches - good luck in whatever you decide.
