Hi

i I have a lesson and interview in Y2 for a 30min reading lesson
thinking something inference based maybe?

has anyone had any good ideas or texts that worked well? Do they need to write during the lesson or can it be whiteboards and discussion based?

30 minutes isn't long. What text are you thinking?

How many in the class? Are there enough whiteboards for 1 each plus pens?

Could you have whiteboards and maybe a back up worksheet in case you need to extend certain children. I'd always have more than less.

Good luck

I’m thinking the bear and the piano, just waiting for confirmation that they haven’t read it yet
ny school teaches reading differently so it’s what I’m used to but I’m thinking maybe reading a short part of it with a focus on fluency and expression, then using highlighters to answer a few retrieval questions with an extra couple on the bottom to extend those that finish quickly
I’ll have a TA so hoping that they can support the group of children who struggle reading, plus I’ve scaffolded it using widgit . Simple skill of answering questions on a sheet after a bit or modelling- I find highlighters are always a big hit!

I was going to suggest that book too!

Sounds like you've got it covered. Good luck

Thanks! Doing some basic retrieval questions so hoping the children are mostly able to access
debating asking the TA to pull a group that would benefit from reading aloud to and verbal comprehension before finding answers together but would this be frowned upon? Just don’t want to leave them to flounder at tables if they aren’t able readers!
