Supply teaching agencies

Thinking of signing up to a couple of agencies to start supply teaching. Are there any anyone recommends, or are they all just local? I'm based in Hampshire if that helps! And is it normal for them to ask for you to upload ID, certificates etc? I'm happy to do this but I want to make sure it's routine for them to want this!

My only experience was with an local agency not in your area. Of course it's normal to need identity checks, given the role you're taking on, and to check your qualifications. They'll also need you to apply for a new DBS.

Good luck

A lot depends on the people working at the agencies. So, even within the same firm, a recommendation should be from local Supply Teachers.

It’s a good idea to upload your certificates - they have to check and online beats travelling to an office. Also, they can assure the school that you have the relevant skills. Keep your CV updated.

If I had my time again I would sign up with 4 or 5 agencies to try and get a steady amount of work.

Make sure you sign up for the update service when you get a DBS.

Insist on PAYE.

Good luck!

Thanks everyone. I was just paranoid as my husband's just applied for what seems like a fake job so I wanted to double check!
