The headline makes this sound as if teachers are routinely being offered lie-ins, short weeks etc - lovely for those who are getting these but certainly not something I’ve come across (even taking PPA at home is not something considered at my place.)

Note for the hard of reading - this is NOT a whinge about not getting lie-ins - it’s pretty well known when you start teaching that you’re never going to get one on a weekday! I just feel a bit annoyed that undoubtedly some people will read just the headline and it as a reason why teachers are entitled and lazy when it’s something applicable to the smallest possible number of teachers.

Teachers in England offered lie-ins to make job more appealing

Other perks including nine-day fortnight and more planning time at home offered to attract recruits

I didn't read the full article because it really annoyed me. Teachers don't need to sleep in time, they just want a more manageable workload. This just perpetuates the notion that teachers are lazy whilst also alienating the teachers. Ridiculous.
