Pension rollback choices… help!

I recently tried to check my pension statement but was unable because I haven’t yet made my ‘rollback’ choices. I’ve been sent a form to do this as I’ve missed the date to do it online but I’m so confused…I don’t really understand the choice I’m making and the impact it’ll have on my pension. I’m scared of making the wrong choice.

Does anyone understand what it’s all about and feel like shedding some light on it for me please?

Are you due to retire soon? Otherwise I don't think you make the choice until you apply for retirement.

This is if you are in the final salary scheme as well as the career average.

@BG2015 thanks for replying. That’s what I thought too. I’m 50 and have been teaching for 28 years, no plans to retire for at least another ten years as I’ve worked part time for much of my career although I’ve never had a break from teaching (other than maternity leave.)
I logged on to teachers pensions to try to see my pension statement.I got a message saying that they couldn’t give me a statement until I’d made my rollback choice. Apparently I’ve missed the March deadline so I can’t now make my choice online and I’ll have to fill in a form.
I’m worried about making the wrong decision. When trying to ring Teachers pensions the recorded message says they are unable to advise about rollback decisions. I’m really confused!

I'm 55 and have not been asked to make a choice.

Have you ever worked overtime? It may be because of that.

Also are you a member of the Dave Fountain facebook group ? They are amazing and will be able to answer your questions.

Thanks @BG2015 Yes I think you’re right about the overtime. Having looked into it a bit more, the deadline which has passed is the one where I can choose what happens to the pension payments I’ve made on my overtime. The form I need to fill in is to get that lump sum paid back to me (£31😂😂😂).
