Do any teachers/school support staff here have ADHD and/autism?

Just wondering if there are many in schools and how you manage it?
I work as a TA and definitely have some traits and have found things quite difficult.
Have you stayed or had to move on to a different career?

I'm a primary school teacher and have autism. I got a very late adult diagnosis and had already been teaching 20+ years.

It has helped me to understand why I always found some things tricky.

I haven't disclosed to parents or pupils but am very open about it with other staff.

Didn't mean to quote there!

I'm waiting for an autism and adhd assessment. I haven't discussed with many people but all apart from one have agreed it is likely!
I'm not yet sure how or if I will disclose it in school. I feel strongly in raising awareness and reducing stigma- but I also feel that I will be seen and treated differently.

Autistic secondary teacher here. In my last school, half my science department was autistic. My colleagues knew but I haven't felt the need to discuss it with managers, pupils or parents.

I have one diagnosed autistic child and another with likely ADHD/ ASD traits.

I cope reasonably well. Remembering names and faces is a pain, but I find that, otherwise, my autistic nature is actually beneficial to many of my tasks. Some of my mannerisms may be a bit off, and pupils can take a while to take to me as a person, but once they do, they see me as honest and reliable. My eye for detail and ability to get stuck in a task and problem solve in a straight-forward way are usually appreciated.

I'm autistic. I teach in a secondary school. I've taught a long time but I am looking for a way out now.

Yes quite sure I have lived my whole life with a degree of ADHD which explains much of my behaviours and I'm only just beginning to understand after DDs diagnosis.

I know others I believe to have ASD. 2 who are open about it. Definitely more common in the maths/science/IT subjects in my experience.

I'm currently waiting for diagnosis (autism) but was advised to by the staff who handled my son's diagnosis.
I handle it by working in a small secondary school. Once also taught in the same school for nearly 20 years.

There's a Neurodivergent Educators' Support Group on fb. I have many many ADHD traits but haven't looked for a diagnosis.
