Anyone?

Hi,

When I did mine I was given a fake case study of a new student. I had to write a "report" saying what I thought the main issues were and ideas of how we could help.

They threw in a few red herrings but it wasn't too bad. Just use your common sense...it will be fine.

@Charliebong thank you so much!

You’re welcome, your test could be completely different but all they really want to see is that you’re a warm, approachable person who the students will want to work with. TAs are like gold dust around here, so I’m sure they will be interviewing you and willing you to “pass”.

Good luck… interviews are horrible but the fact that you care enough to ask bodes well.

Thank you so much for your kind message. I feel a bit more prepared now.

Check the information that came with the job application. It may have a list of Essential and Desirable skills and a code to show how it is assessed, e.g. I = Interview Question, T = Task. Also look at the job tasks as that might give you a clue.

Whatever the task, the school will want to check that you can write to an adequate standard, legibly and with good grammar and spelling.

@SnowdaySewday no such luck I'm afraid, but many thanks for reaching out.

After scouring the internet, these are the possibilities I have gathered:

Write a report on a new student. (Thank you to @Charliebong for that.)

Write about an observation you have done and reflect on it.

Write a letter to a parent regarding their child's behaviour.

Write up your intervention notes.

Detail the roles of a teacher assistant.

At an interview for a similar position I was given a complicated worksheet (?possibly geography, I can't quite remember) and asked to produce a simpler version for a student. I think part of the point of this was not only to see if I could filter the important points but also to check my word processing/computing skills
