Hi,
I've got an interview next week for a nursery teacher job (this is a qualified teacher in an local authority nursery school as opposed to a private day care type setting).
I have over 20 years experience as an EY teacher, but a lot of that was working in private pre schools/nurseries and not on the teacher's pay scale. I left the sector around 18 months ago as I felt I'd like to try something different. I've been working in mental health as an administrator, but haven't found it particularly fulfilling and don't see myself doing this long term. I have been considering a return to teaching and when this role came up, it seemed perfect.
I have received an email inviting me for interview next week, but other than that I don't have details of what I will be asked to do (this is to follow). I'm assuming I'll be observed interacting with the children and expect to be asked to deliver some sort of activity. I'm thinking at this stage in the year, I'll want to be focusing on ensuring that activities are at the appropriate level for children going up to reception class in September. Having been out of the classroom for a while, I'm slightly concerned about being out of touch with this side of things.
Interview question-wise, I'm assuming the usual about safeguarding, SEN, etc... but is there anything else I should think about that's pertinent to EY at the moment?
TIA
