Meeting with head and no agenda

I received an email from the headteacher last week asking for a meeting with him. The wording was that he had a few things to discuss. I was immediately panicky when I saw the email, as I have practically nothing to do with the head. Any 'discussions' I have had (there have only been two) over 8-9 years have been regarding a parent complaint. My position is part-time, and I do management cover and PPA cover. I read the email at lunchtime, although it was sent at 9 am. I replied, but as I only work three days a week, I was keen to discuss whatever it is before having Friday, Monday and the weekend to worry about what should be addressed. I do not work those days. I called into his office and said I'd only read my emails and was it possible to meet after school or during lunch, but he said he was too busy. Hence, I had the weekend to think about it.
I have behaviour issues with two of the classes I take, and I have not handled them well. Both classes have 5 or 6 challenging kids, and there is no TA in the class during the afternoon. My other four classes are productive and well-taught.
As I approach retirement age, I can't help but wonder if this is one of the topics for discussion in the upcoming meeting. However, I must admit that I am only speculating. I would greatly appreciate any helpful suggestions or insights from you all.

Try not to panic. "Can I have word" or "have you time for a quick chat" are words that make my blood run cold.

There is no way of knowing what the head wants. It could be day off change, changes to current teaching arrangements, opportunity for developments.

Bit of a dick move to not tell you before the weekend.

This is one reason why I hate teaching- the godly power of heads.

Ask him if you should bring your union rep with you.

It was thoughtless to leave the chat hanging over the weekend. I return to work on Tuesday, and there is no prearranged meeting time. I thought the best thing to do would be to email early on Tuesday morning and state the times I am available.

I never attend a meeting without first ascertaining the agenda - I don't care if that makes me stroppy. Mrs Hamlet is also right that you should ask whether you need your union rep with you.

I agree. You should be given the reason and opportunity to decide if you need representation.

Hope you've met with your HT and it's a good outcome.

Did you have your meeting?
