Phased return after an illness- what would be a good pattern?

I normally work FT (Primary) but have been off ill. I think a phased return is going to be necessary but I'm not sure what pattern to suggest to my HT.
Full days seem daunting, so I wondered about mornings only to start?
Wondered if anyone had experience of this, thanks!

I've been off recently. I'm back in next week.

Mornings only next week, then it's half-term then back in full- time.

I suppose it depends on how long you have been off and what the illness was.

I was off for 7 weeks with stress due to partner's illness.

I had a term off, after an accident and two major operations. I was phased back in over a month or so - started with one or two full days the first week but built up quickly. Half days would have been much better, I had no stamina and ended up overdoing things and having another couple of weeks off. I had gone back too soon really and was very fatigued. I really wanted to go back and get back to normal but teaching is so full on.

It would also have helped to have had a better handover from my cover, and more continuity with them as I phased back in - this would have really helped the class and parents, who were unsettled by all the changes (Reception). And to have reviewed each week or two with the Head or someone how it was going and whether I needed any adaptations - an appointment with Occupational Health would have been helpful too.

Make sure you look after yourself and don't rush back too soon.

Thank you so much. I think mornings would be a good way to do it...long boring medical story but the end result is pain and terrible fatigue. I'm keen to get back but worried about doing too much and exacerbating it.

I had a phased return after 9 months off for breast cancer. The Occupational Health dr advised my return to work.

I initially went into school (primary) and just did planning for a couple of mornings. I eventually built up to a couple mornings teaching the following week and built up so that over 6 weeks I was teaching fulltime.

Thank you @BG2015 and sorry you had to go through that.
Yes I'm wondering if even being in there, doing some planning etc is the first step before actually teaching. Or maybe even team teaching with the person who has been covering my class.

It took me a couple of hours to remember how to log on to my computer and navigate the various websites etc we use, use the photocopier etc - total brain fog!
