IQTS and iPGCE

I would like to retrain as a secondary school teacher of English and go on an iQTS and iPGCE course.

I don't live in the UK. I live in the EU. I can't leave my country of residence for at least two more years.

I am British, English literature graduate, MSc in marketing.

I don't currently work in a school and I need to be working in a school to get onto this course and quality as a teacher.

How would you recommend I go about getting a place teaching in a school as a trainee - would have to be an international school - without qualifications?

I'd really like some advice on how to sell myself, with all the pros of having an extra pair of hands.

I'm not sure it's very desirable for schools to have trainees as it could be a drain on their existing teachers' time and energies.

Any help and insights or advice would be really appreciated.

You either need to find a support staff job for a year or so (teaching assistant, cover teacher) to get the experience before applying or see if any of your local schools offer a training route linked to a UK university I suppose.

It would completely depend on the course. A friend of mine did one working in an international school (British) but there was a minimum number of days she had to complete a placement in the UK for - I think it was perhaps about 4 weeks total. I think you need to research deeply which uni you are going to do it through and what their assessment criteria are.
