Anyone work as a Teaching assistant level 2/3 with only an award qualification not certificate or diploma?

I currently work as a TA 1 supporting SEN children in early years. I do have a degree in IT, but I don't have any qualifications related to teaching assistants so I'm looking to gain them.

I'm currently on maternity leave so doing placement isn't really an option for me at moment.

Just wondering if it worth doing an award RQF course or waiting a few more months/years until I'm back settled back in and have the opportunity to do a placement in KS1/KS2 doing a certificate/ diploma.

If you’re enjoying being a TA in Early Years your best bet is a Level 3 Early Years course. In my experience anything else isn’t worth the paper it’s written on because TA’s don’t actually have to have recognised qualifications but Early Years settings have to have a ratio of Early Years Level 3 qualified staff. I was a teacher in a school nursery for many years.

Thank you for the response. I love working in nursery but also love working with SEN children. So I'm abit torn on what I want to do atm.

Talking of ratios in early years I wonder if you can answer my question as I have only just started to look it the framework. Does there need to be a level 3 at all times including dinner times? So realistically you need two members of staff that are paid / qualified at level 3 in early years?

I don't work in early years but am a HLTA/ Intervention Lead in secondary. I've also been a L3 in primary and a general TA. I have a degree and a L3 certificate. I would not be paid at my level without my certificate and L1/2 cannot be left alone for long periods with classes. As a L3, I am able to take classes on my own and cover tutor groups etc.
Yes, anyone without a certificate can be employed as a TA but you won't get L3 positions without a certificate generally (which did require me to be in placement).

Sorry, I meant to reply to your original post!

When I was in primary, L1/2 did cover lunchtimes alone in my last school but ideally they would want a L3 or a QT out at the same time.

Most TAs in my school don’t have relevant qualifications. Have you seen the pay????
Im a HLTA Level 4. But I did the qualification while doing the job. I became a TA without any relevant qualifications. I had O levels and A levels but they were only interested in maths and English being C or above.

Edited

It's dire especially when broken down.
I have a full schedule of interventions all week that I plan as deliver. I'm on approx 23K pro rata and that's for HTLA 38 hours a week. The others are on 18/19K for L1 and 2.
