Handing in notice - support staff

Hi,

I work in a secondary school in a support staff role and have just found out I'll be relocating due to my partner's job so will be leaving before the summer holidays. My notice is only a month but I have decided to let them know now since I know I'm leaving anyway. I'm going to tell my HoD first and will then hand my notice in to the head. Is it appropriate to email my notice or should this be hand delivered? If so, should I arrange a meeting with the head or pop by and hand it in?

Thanks for your help.

You can arrange to have a meeting with the HT if you want to - but you can also send an email as they can be busy.
In my school, we have a policy where line managers will receive resignations and then they will let HR and myself as the HT aware so that we can arrange a vacancy advert to be posted.

I will send an email to the colleague who has resigned though making them aware that I’ve received it and sorry to see them leave etc.
