Difference between state and independent for a TA/LSA

Has anyone worked as a TA or LSA in both state and independent schools? I have only worked in state, and for my next job am considering applying to independents as well. I've worked as a mainstream TA and as an SEN LSA.

I'm a Supply Teacher so not directly comparable. I would say one huge difference is the length of day. Lessons up to 4.30pm. Longer holidays but then exhaustion induced illness cuts down on that...

I have done both.
Teachers in independent schools are less conventional, some didn’t want me supporting in their lessons (for fear of being judged, possibly!).
Holidays in IS were enormously long. Days long too. Free hot dinners. More mindful of parent’s opinions. Lots of male staff who also went to IS and er, it shows, and not in a good way!
As someone who went to a shite comprehensive it was an eye opener.

Yes I have. Similar to other posters - the school day is longer but you do get longer holidays, free meals etc.
I also have experience of teachers not wanting support / not knowing how to best use a TA.
The school I worked at had lots of SEN children but didn't really know how to support them effectively so it was a lot of making it up as we went along!

Also better behaviour (generally) smaller class sizes as you would expect.

Thanks.

What are salaries like? State schools advertise the salary or grade with the job, but the independent ads I have seen do not. I'm currently on £22k (actual) 35h/week TTO. Do Independent schools have grades similar to state, or do they expect you to negotiate?
