Teaching assistant pay

I'm thinking of applying for a job as a teaching assistant but before I apply I need to know how much the pay will be, can anyone help me work it out please.

It's 16 hours a week and it says £23800 pro rata. Can anyone work out how much I would get "in my hand" (not literally) each month after tax, NI, pension etc. maybe I wouldn't need to pay tax as might be under the threshold?

I'm worried we will be worse off financially with me working 🙄

Thanks

You need to know how many weeks holiday they will pay you. It’s likely to be 39 weeks add around 5 weeks so 44 weeks pay. You also need to know what full time hours are. Probably 35

23800 / 35 x 16 = 10880
10880 / 52 x 44 = 9206
£767 take home pay minus whatever pension contribution you might make. No tax, no NI according to a salary calculator

Thanks @Caffeinequeen91 . How do I know how much the pension would be?

You would need to ask the school.

When I was a full time TA my full-time hours were judged to be about 32 hours. You need to ask them.
