SCITT Teacher training……online Maths tests

Hey.
I’ve been accepted onto a SCITT course PGCE and QTS.
I do have my Maths GCSE at grade C but have been asked to complete more Maths tests online. I passed 6 out of the 10, the pass mark was 90% but it was soooo hard, I have four to pass still and have enrolled my daughter to help with them but tbh I don’t understand half of it!!!
My question is this. If I get help to pass them, will I be forced to do this AGAIN during the course, when I’ll have likely forgotten it all again, or will I be able to put Maths to bed after completing these online tests. I’ve got the GCSE but it still isn’t enough!!! So frustrating as I’m training to teach Drama not Maths!!!

I think once you've passed, that's it. I had to go to a test centre for mine though, so no chance of getting help.

So you want to cheat? Great start to your teaching career… It’s up to all teachers to embed maths in their lessons, not dismiss it as a discrete topic that has no relevance elsewhere. If you do that you are part of the problem fgs. Skill up now - your current skills aren’t cutting it - you have time.

Wow. How is getting help cheating? How else will I learn?! What I’m suggesting is getting a tutor to help with the remaining units, however, I’m not sure in a years time if I don’t use those skills meantime I will remember them, Maths is not my skill set.
Unnecessarily aggressive response.

Which skills are you struggling with? I think it's fine to get a tutor to teach you new skills.

I remember my maths test involved a lot of data handling. All teachers do need to understand data, as it's important in understanding the performance of your classes over time- I would be wary of dismissing this as a skill you won't use.

I think the OP means they'll get help to prepare/study rather than get their DD to do the test.

But yes, OP, maths is pretty vital in this career. I'm not particularly good at maths but my prep and revision for the tests helped me brush up on things I do use. Also, you won't just be a drama teacher but will have a pastoral role and you may have to do maths sessions as part of a form time.

Probably varies between different training providers but we've had to do KS2 SATS maths and English tests twice now to show we have consistently strong subject knowledge. Those that scored low have to show progression in subsequent tests and we all do a final one in the summer term before qualifying.

When my daughter applied for her teacher training she had maths tests. She had a B at GCSE and is fine on statistics which is relevant to the course she teaches, but maths generally isn't her strong suit so she was a bit worried about it.

The ITT provider said she shouldn't worry about it and the tests were to check whether trainees needed any extra support as part of their training. She did fine, but was reassured that the support would have been available had she needed it.
