TA interview SEN school

Evening.
i have an interview this week for a TA's position in a SEN school.
i was wondering if any of you have any tips or hints that would help me get through this.
i have been a TA for 15yrs in mainstream, specialising in EYFS...
fully updated on safegarding, i meet all the essential and more than half of the desirable attributes, but its the interview itself that worries me. (not good at self promoting)
i do know there will be a spelling and grammar test (dont judge from this post, currently in bed on my phone and typing quickly)
any advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Maybe focus on the fact that they need you more than you need them right now.
All schools are crying out for good TAs and it sounds like you know your stuff so let the weighted odds give you a bit of confidence.

You will need to:

Have a great understanding of safeguarding
Be pleasant, well presented and personable.
Give specific examples of things you have done with children that demonstrate particular skills.

It would also be helpful to have a working knowledge of sensory approaches and sensory needs.

Have an understanding of the different types of SEND.

And
Explain why you're looking to move from mainstream to special.

Have plenty to talk about and you'll be fine.
Good luck!

@MichonnesBBF how did you get on

Thank you for asking.

I didn't get it...the panel were lovely but they went with someone who has more SEN experience...which is totally understandable, they did offer me a part time LSA post, however I turned it down as it would be a pay cut by quite a bit, as I am full time at the moment and 2 grades higher (I get I would gain more experience for applying next time) but I just can't justify the change.

Awe that's a shame but good experience at least. I'm hoping to be a TA in the future (mainstream) do you have any tips? I'm already volunteering in a school 🙂
