Criminal damage off site

What would you expect the sanctions to be for 15 year olds involved in violent criminal damage to a pupils house? (In school uniform and caught in the act) Would somebody involved but just watching/filming still be sanctioned?

Presumably the police will be dealing with the violent criminal damage aspects, I would imagine the school will be dealing with the " bringing the school into disrepute " side of things. If so, then both the perpetrator and the spectator will be sanctioned. I'm primary so we don't give detentions- but I would imagine that a secondary school would be doing so!

Depends if brings the school into disrepute. Poss no action from school - to suspension.
i should expect police to be involved though.

Gosh, I’m surprised you say that some schools may take no action! I’m shocked.

At my school, the person filming would be sanctioned as well, probably in the same way as the perpetrators. Our HT is not a fan of social media.

Schools don't have to get involved in behaviour off site- even if students are in uniform. Most school behaviour policies will include bringing the school into disrepute, at my place it would likely be a temp exclusion, probably longer for the person doing the damage, but likely a day for anyone filming or similar.

If it's part of wider bullying against a student, then it might be treated more severely- but schools do have to be careful about getting involved in things off site and it does depend on their behaviour policy.

Previously, in a school I worked in, there was a major fight between students off site, with one of them ending up in hospital- school wanted to PEx the assualting student, but were blocked (by the LA, I think) because it had all happened off site at the weekend.

At the end of the day, really it's a police matter, surely?

Interesting. I think the context would
be helpful, but it wouldn’t be appropriate to share on here.
