Don't think any school 'winds down' this time of year!

I hear, from people who don't work in schools, a lot of 'oh you'll be winding down now' etc.

I'm pretty sure, from my experience and talking to people in other schools, that nobody is 'winding down'!

We have 3 weeks left (secondary) and I need to finish content.

In addition, with end of year assembly, family open day, talent show plus a ton of curriculum/T&L stuff to do, we are definitely nit winding down.

What's everyone else's experience? Fairly sure none of you will be winding down.

I'd love to wind down. Not a chance though.
Years 11 and 13 have gone, but that time is all taken up with jobs I have needed to do for ages.

I bloody wish! We are just recovering from Ofsted and now it's transition time!

Hayliebells · 01/07/2023 06:29

Yeah, there's no wind down! I'm fortunate that we still get gained time at our school when year 11 and 13 leave, then it feels like there's about a week for a bit of a breather before all the end of term nonsense starts. And behaviour deteriorates as even if we're not on a wind down, the students are, especially after their end of year exams. Sick of hearing "are we doing something fun today?". Yes we're doing Biology, it's always fun.

Not yet but by the end of the week I will be. The last week of term is trips week so the kids only come in if they are going on a trip, which means I'm down to 3 classes before summer. I will 100% be showing films come Thursday!

As busy but in a different way. Trying to finish assessments and last bits of the curriculum, whilst preparing for the play, transition and leavers' events. After school is all about making props and things rather than planning.

Fameinaframe · 01/07/2023 18:41

Absolutely not!

We are on timetable (curriculum) right upto Friday 21st July when we break up.
The children have missed so much learning we can not justify coming off it!

Apart from one transition day and half a day trip we will be full on for the next three weeks as usual.

Yeah, we do. Three weeks to go. Our assessments are all done. We did our end-of-year performance last Thursday. I still need to get reports done but ours are just grades and they get calculated on a spreadsheet with data having been added throughout the year. Just need to add the final ones on the system.
We still have trips and a summer fair coming up. However, I've made getting the curriculum covered a priority this year and we are in line with the annual plan, which is good.
I'm teaching at an international primary school abroad, though.
Our secondary section still have graduations to organise and all that stuff. As far as I'm aware, they've finished all assessments as well, though. Final grades need to be submitted by next Friday.
