Supply on day off

I work 3 days and can currently do a bit of supply on my days off. I'm wondering if it's best to approach my secondary school and see if they want to use me when I'm available or if it would be better for me to go through an agency. I'd really only want to work at my school, but just wondering it that would be possible?

Thanks

Does your school employ Cover Supervisors? Most schools use these instead of supply teachers as they are much much cheaper.
Is there not an opportunity for you to pick up an extra day in your faculty/ department?

No they no longer have cover supervisors. I can't do it in a regular basis as I care for a family member with a disability.

Better to say to your school you'd be available sometimes. If you can't do the day the agencies can find someone.

You would get your schools terms and conditions IV they employ you directly. They know you and can trust you. Agency terms are rubbish.

You will need to talk to the school business manager. It will come down to whether you are affordable; if you are on approx M5 or more then with on-costs your daily rate may be unaffordable for the school.

I would speak to your head. At our school, for example, we have a non-compete clause with our agency provider so must go through them when we need cover. We have a few part time staff that also do a few days cover work on their days off but we can't hire them unless they are employed by this agency.

I'm UPS but my school are always happy to have me as first port of call for supply if they are busy. Their logic is that I know the kids and the systems so there's no fallout from me being in school (i.e. no kids trying it on with someone who doesn't know the rules). Supply agencies cost a small fortune although a lot of the money is soaked up in admin fees and never gets to the teacher who is working on supply. I'd speak to your school in the first instance.
