First ever interview in a school setting. Help!

I've had a career change and feel so out of my depth and comfort zone.

I have 2 interviews for a TA role. I've never done it before just volunteered in a school for 3 hrs per week for a year whilst studying at uni. I've never led an activity.

One is for Yr 3 children with SEN, low, med ability.
Other is Yr 5 children with mixed ability.

For both they want me to choose a book and then do a short activity with the group. I'm freaking out. I have no clue at all. Any suggestions??

I'd Google for a book list for y5 and choose a book which appeals to you (either from the library or amazon if you can afford it/want to)as the children will likely pick up on your enthusiasm.Starting by e planing why you chose the book will help. For y3 SEN you could try a mood generic all age book because yhis will give you some flexibility to adapt to the children's level. If you jave any related objects you can also take for that group that can be a good icebreaker.Hope this helps a little.

Could you choose a book with a distinctive voice/writing style and spend some time exploring this style with students. For the activity, the y5 students could write a short piece in the style of the book.

For the y3 group, maybe cut out a work bank they can use to make a sentence or sentences in the style, either entirely from the word bank or using their own words too?
