I have seen a role as a permanent cover teacher for Secondary (not supervisor ) it pays MPS. I am really interested to know if anyone does this role and what the hours are like? Do you still go to meetings after school? Do you do any work at home? What are the duties like? Do you enjoy it?

Is it floating across departments or would you be attached to a particular subject?

Floating

It will depend on the school but if you are floating with no department alliance of any kind and no fixed classes, then it sounds more like a permanent covet supervisor role.

We have a permanent cover teacher in our department but she has a selection of fixed classes within our department and then any period not her PPA is open for cover. She also takes over entire classes in some cases from other departments to cover long term sick. She still needs to attend meetings for our department and departments when on taking classes on long term sick, and she's responsible for the marking, but not for the floating cover. Her hours are also made up with extra detention duties.

If however you are only floating, I can't see how you will have much after-school responsibilities.

My dd1's secondary school has at least one of these. He is known as a permanent cover teacher and teaches several different subjects. I think it works well, but only know what dd1 has told me about him.
