I'd like some advice.

If the reception class has 36 pupils how many qualified teachers should there be and how many TA's please? This is in Wales.

I've obviously goggled it but I find guidance only. I want hard and fast rules if they're exist.

I thought the maximum class size was 30.

Ideally, but you can go over 30 but with more adults in place I believe.

There should be a ratio of 1:8 but I also agree with @voxnihili that the class size should not exceed 30. Is it a full reception class and not a mix of reception with nursery or year 1 pupils as well?

Full reception

A few years ago our reception intake was 38 (several sets of twins and SEND appeals were upheld). We had two qualified teachers every morning plus 2 TAs and in the afternoons one of the teachers was replaced by a HLTA (still had the 2 TAs).

4 adults is what I would hope for really as a bare minimum.

I think that in England you must have 2 qualified teachers (though that may only be for 4.5 days each to allow for PPA) but there is no additional requirement for TAs / additional adults unless any of the children have EHCPs specifying 1:1. However, that is England, and may more specifically be KS1 not EYFS.
