I currently work 0.6 and for the first time in years I am fairly happy at work, I've only got one key stage (my favourite) and there isn't a class I dread.
I know I won't stay 0.6 for ever, it's would make sense for me to work more to earn more etc etc.
I've been offered a day extra till Easter to cover for a long term absence and I've changed my mind every half hour about wether it not to take it!

Pros- I want the extra money, it will help out the team massively to have me rather than unknown cover, brownie points from school for helping out

Cons- it's more work! Two extra key stages and 3 different subjects (bio/ chem and phys) would be paid for the hours rather than making me 0.8. I would lose a day 'off' where I get house stuff/ family stuff even work stuff done too so I get a weekend.

I'm so torn, would you work more if it was offered?!

You’re still getting two days off per week even with the extra hours. It’s all down to your personal circumstances really but I think it would be a benefit to your school that you pick up the extra day and extra pay for you too.
In regards to your workload, could you not do an extra hour of marking or planning per day to free up your weekend?

Would you just be delivering the lessons- no planning or marking? If not, I'd push to be paid as 0.8 for the term before agreeing- although it does depend how badly you'd need the money!

Thanks both, I need to check on the pay @Postapocalypticcowgirl - if I were expected to plan and mark then I would definitely need the whole day paid to agree to it!
Logically it makes sense to do it, but my own feelings of not really wanting to should count for a lot here right?!

If the planning were done for me it could end up being unpleasant behaviour management wise!

I'd stick with 0.6 if you can afford to. Can't put a price on fact you say you you 're 'enjoying' it. It's rare to hear that.
School will cope.
Certainly not for Brownie Points either, of feeling guilty.
Need to look after Number 1. That way you and the school benefit.

I’ve done this before and the person I was covering for ended up taking another term off. I didn’t feel like I could step down and was really drained by the end. Just something to bear in mind!
