I am an ECT and signed a contract stating £29,915.I wanted clarification if the M1 pay scale has increased from £29,915 to £32,407 for this academic ( outer London pay) .Is this only a proposed Pay from September 2022 apply to me or not?.

Another example, if I was to apply for a job for Easter 2023 would I be paid £32,407. I know it does not make much of a difference in tax.

Can the school pay below M1 pay scale although government has put in Teachers pay scale?Does the contract go through LA check?

Is your school a LA school, or an Academy that follows STPCD? If either, as the STPCD has just been updated in mid October, it won't actually land in your salary until either the November or December pay. It should be backdated to September though, so you should get a lump sum before Christmas. If it's an Academy with it's own pay policy, you'd need to find out what that is. If you were to take a new job from Easter, then yes, if it's an LA school or an Academy that follows STPCD, you'd be paid the increase from the start. Again, if it's an Academy that doesn't follow the STPCD, their pay scales may differ, so it's a question to ask during the recruitment process.

You’re an ECT and considering moving at Easter? Unless there are serious issues in your current role, I’d suggest thinking carefully about that. It seems odd and might make future employers think twice about you.

With regards to the pay rise, it is normal for schools not to implement them straight away and for it to arrive as backpay in November / December. This year, there’s even more to-ing and fro-ing with unions / ballots so I suspect most schools haven’t decided what to do yet. It will come as back pay at some point. Don’t worry

As others have said, it’s totally normal for schools that follow the national pay sales not to have applied an uplift yet. November is typical and December not unusual for backdated pay to come through for any pay increase (through rises like this and through progression up the pay scale).

Don’t panic but do check that your school follows the payscales.

My daughter is also an ECT (at an Academy which follows the STPCD).

The contract she was given was based on M1 at last year's rate. When the new pay rates were published, she contacted her payroll people who confirmed that she would get the new rate. She hasn't had it yet, but knows that that is normal.
