Online/home study TA courses - advice welcome!

Hello

Looking for a bit of advice about the value of studying for a CACHE Level 2 or 3 course online/home study - with someone like DeMontfort or Learn Direct.

I am considering a career change to a TA - I have not worked in education before but I do have experience from years ago of working with kids as a Playworker (I have an old CACHE Level 2 qualification in playwork somewhere) and volunteering with Brownies. I have also been going into my child's primary school one morning a week to read with a group of children.

For various reasons I would prefer to do an online course if possible but wondered if someone more knowledgeable/experienced could advise whether it would be viewed negatively? I absolutely appreciate the value of the classroom experience and in person learning offered elsewhere and so I don't want to waste money (especially now!) if an online qualification is not going to help if I'm looking for jobs in the future. I did pass all of my GCSEs and have a law degree if that's relevant.

Thank you in advance for any help!

Have a look at current TA vacancies near you and see if they ask for a TA-specific qualification. I was a TA for year with no related qualifications (obviously maths and English though)
