Exit interview was never done

I’m very happy of course however I’m wondering if I’m the one in the wrong here?

I was offered a date set a time then they then wanted to bring it forward by about 5 minutes I didn’t reply as I figured it wasn’t a question and it would be fine anyway. I then left it at that they they were absent, and it was never re arranged and no one had reached out to me

as they weren’t in on the date of the exit interview or the 3 days after, I just assumed as I didn’t want to do it anyway and they hadn’t offered a rescheduled date, that it was better I didn’t instigate a new date. However on my last day another colleague said “you really should have done the exit interview to be honest”

should I have chased it up? I would never want to seem rude but I was just happier to not do one?

I don’t understand the problem. You’d decided not to do it?

I never said no, but the person wasn’t there and I never chased it and I was told it was wrong of me not to chase that up on their return to work. I reiterated there was not much for me to say

I think you need a hobby.

OutDamnedSpot · 20/07/2022 23:39

Okay, so it didn’t happen. And you don’t mind that it didn’t happen? That’s it. That’s enough. You really don’t need to overthink it. Relax. Enjoy the summer. I hope your new school is a better fit for you.

I suppose it depends what the interview might have led to.
If you have any sort of grievance with the school and it would have come out as resentment or disappointment on your part, then I'm not sure it would have done you any good. They would be unlikely to act upon it and it's debatable whether you would have felt any better about it.
If, on the other hand, it had come out that they had issues with you, then it depends how much you would have been willing to acknowledge those potential issues and work to improve on them for your future career. If you wouldn't have accepted their points, then I agree, there would have been little point or gain.

You didn't want it in the first place. It didn't happen. You've left.
Forget about it.

The pp is right.

You not to forget about it and move on. Not only that, you need to find a way not to perseverate over tiny details, conversations and decisions. Teaching is a job where you make a million small decisions every day. Reflect, yes, but fixating on everything that happens is not possible and will wear you out within weeks.

Good luck at your new school.

I’m puzzled as to why you didn’t bother to acknowledge the change of time, for the sake of good manners as well as keeping a record.
If you don’t want to seem rude, start responding to emails.

i wasn’t happy and I didn’t want to lie about it to anyone and pretend I was okay for the sake of it. I know others tore the place to shreds. I just didn’t want to

I had forgot, but they were not there either and we’re not allowed to email absent staff so I couldn’t do much.
