Resign or no?

A job has come up that is right up my street andi've applied. However, the deadline is past the resignation date. They want a September start and i'd be tied to January unless I resign now.

I've just been passed over for an upward move in my current place and it's toxic there anyway- slt are all very cliquey and have form for bullying out older more expensive teachers, of which I am one.

The job i've applied for is in a different setting and i would be happy to take a pay cut as it offers more potential for cpd plus i'd save a lot on petrol and travel time. I think i'm in a good position for it. If I didn't get it I could always do supply- there's plenty of need for it round here.

Just asking for opinions really. I keep wavering over my email!

I think this depends on your subject / setting etc, and what you would do if you resigned and didn’t get the new job. Supply? If you’re a secondary maths teacher, for example, then you’ll easily find something else in most parts of the country, but some other specialisms would find jt much harder.

I’d contact the head at the potential new school and discuss it with them. They might be able to interview you sooner (as they’ll know they’ll get few experienced applicants at this stage).

Sorry. I’ve just seen that you said you’d do supply.

I’d still call potential new head though. It might be that she’ll say something in the call that helps you decide.
