Wondering if anyone can give me some advice please. I'm an ex HLTA who was teaching for most of the day (primary). I left a couple of years ago and would now like to offer home tutoring but have no idea where to start.
Does anyone know how I'd keep up to date on teaching methods and syllabus to be able to do this please?
Thanks very much.

Hello, I've made the move from primary teaching to tutoring. I was a primary school teacher for 15 years. I think you'd have to be honest about not being a qualified teacher, as that's what most people would look for. You need to know the national curriculum well - this is your syllabus. I find the most important things are knowing the progression throughout the years and the actual methods that need to be taught and are helpful to the pupils. I have built up a huge bank of resources over the years. I think without years of in-school experience, I wouldn't have had this. Once you find a couple of pupils who are happy with you, you will get more through word of mouth. Good luck.
