How is it dealt with in your school?

This is my first post on mumsnet. I was wondering if you could share with me how it would be dealt with in your school if a child (secondary) used offensive sexualised language to insult a teacher? Is there a consistent system for reporting this and a clear sanction system? What is done if the child denies said offence? As you can probably guess I am feeling that these sorts of issues are not dealt with consistently or effectively in my current school.

They'd be externally excluded for a fixed period.

So imagine Bob does that to me p1. I'd report it immediately. He'd be put into isolation whilst an investigation was carried out. Then excluded.

In my last school, when I was threatened with rape, the head told me that the child wasn't talking to me. He was a terrible head.

Thank yoy for replying. I think something similar to what you've suggested should happen but it doesn't. Can I ask, how and who you report it to. I seem to log things on the system endlessly but it's no one's job to follow anything up.

What happened at your old school is really terrible but doesnt surprise me.

If it was in a lesson, we have an alert system so a senior member of staff would be sent.
If it was transition time, I'd email the SLT list and the hoy team. And log it on sims.

I would phone our internal exclusion unit during the lesson and the child would be picked up by SLT and spend the rest of the day there, minimum.

If it was a one off, that would probably be the end of it. If it was a pattern of behaviour it would be investigated more fully.

Early in my career, I found those situations really hard. I am now able to do a good line in very straightforward, blunt tellings off for any sexualised language in my presence. If you can find a supportive colleague to help you do that, you might feel more in control of any future incidents
