What's your role in school and how many hours do you typically work at the weekend

Just having a coffee break so I'm having a ponder

I'm a SENCO at a through school and typically work 15 hours over the weekend

At my last school I'd typically work 4 but the systems and processes are not where I'd like them to be so anticipate I've got about another 2 terms of this volume of work

Just wondering how typical this is

I'm a secondary hod of a small department. When I was an NQT I worked about 15 hours at the weekend (plus 10 hour days). Now I'm experienced and a HOD I work between 4 and 8 hours at the weekend (plus 10 hour days -unless there's a production on in which case it's 14 hour days).

When working as a SENCO I probably worked 20 hours over the weekend and until 11pm 2-3 evenings per week.

Just wanted to say, doing 15-20 hours over the weekend is not actually the same as a full-time job, 7 days a week! That's crazy...no wonder teachers are leaving in droves...

Phase lead (120 kids in my phase, 4 classes). I work somewhere between 0 and 3 hours at the weekends.

If you can't get all your work done in school time over the working week you need to have a talk to your HT. That is not sustainable.

I’m slt in a small primary. Typically don’t work at all over the weekend - but I am only employed 4 days a week. I nearly always work school hours on my day ‘off’.

DH is SLT secondary and works ALL the time. We’re lucky if he manages half a day off at the weekend, atm.

Wow, that’s a lot but maybe manageable if you are getting things where you want them and it’s for a finite amount of time?? Or maybe your LM can help in some way if sympathetic.

i am secondary class teacher and do between 0 and 4 hours per weekend depending on time of year and workload. But contracted at 0.75 so use some time off for work pretty regularly.

Primary school teacher, work 0 hours on the weekend. 2-4 hours in the weekdays outside of school hours.

0.8 UPS 3 secondary. 0 hours at the the weekend. Occasionally an hour on a day off. Work 7.45 - 5pm in school 4 days a week.

Gave up tlr and dropped a day to make it sustainable.

I work 0.8 as history teacher plus head of another small (non-exam) subject. I usually don't work at all at weekends or evenings any more. Around mock exam time or other pinch points I'll bring home a couple of hours marking to do but otherwise, all completed in the hours I'm at school.

I don't work on my day off either as have my pre-school DC at home with me.

I’m an English teacher and Literacy Coordinator at an upper school teaching Y9-13. At this time in the year I get in at 8 and leave by 4.30. Maybe 2 hours of planning/marking at the weekend. Autumn term is a different story!

English HoD 1 hour at weekends

Primary SLT (full time class teacher) and I work around 8 hours every weekend as well as around 2 hours every evening. I am leaving teaching.

0.8 in super laidback school so no meetings apart from a very brief morning briefing. Pressure points in the term maybe 4 hours over the weekend but mainly during school hours 8.30-4pm

0.8 ASN teacher. I don't do any work in evenings or weekends.

This is really depressing. I thought I was typical. I can't imagine how I'd get all my work done in the week. I'm permanently way behind as it is. I have rehearsals until 4.30 every night so can't do any planning or marking until 4.30pm, but generally then I'm too tired so it goes to the weekend. I'd rather that than work after kids are in bed.

Isn't it going to depend what hours you work on weekdays too ?

I teach Year 2 fulltime. I've been teaching since 1996.

I may work an odd hour after school, often laminating or cutting out bits. Work for 2-3 hours on a Sunday afternoon.

I'm in school,for 7.30am and home by 5pm

Full time KS2 teacher - work 7.30am until 5.30pm.

Probably max 4 hours at the weekend and a bit of prep in the evenings whilst sat on the sofa (trying not to fall asleep).

I'm a secondary teacher with a small TLR. I'm 0.7, and I rarely work during weekends, but I work
the equivalent of about a whole 9-3pm day over my 1.5 days off. I don't do much on the evening, maybe a couple of hours work post 3pm, including meetings. When I was full time I definitely was working weekends, usually a whole day. For me, full time teaching is not sustainable, I don't know how I'd do it now. I don't have the time and energy that I had in my 20s.

Full time teacher of English. UPS3. I don't work at all during the weekend

full time ks4 English teacher. Lucky we have shared planning. So 0 hours on weekend and weekday evenings. I get it all done during ppas- marking etc. I’ve been teaching 10 years now so it gets easier and you learn how to manage your time better and what to focus on. I had more time when i was single now with a family its all about work life balance imo.
