How to make extra cash with QTS (not tutoring!)

I’m currently on Mat Leave and won’t be returning to my full time teaching role (notice to be handed in shortly). I won’t be seeking full time employment as I’ll be doing my masters and juggling baby for a few years- but just wondering if there is anything I can get myself on the books for so I can earn some extra cash sporadically?

How do I go about being an exam invigilator?
Or marking SATS papers?
People do it of course but I don’t know how!

I can’t be bothered with the prep involved for tutoring.

I have a humanities undergrad, PGCE primary, taught for 8 years with leadership responsibilities.

Could you sell your resources online on TES? It only makes pocket change but it's passive income once you've set it up.

I think you apply for SATS marking through capita.

It's a lot of work for peanuts though - you'll come away with about a grand and you can end up spending quite a bit of time, its intensive and over a short time period.

Tutoring you at least can get a decent hourly rate and if you are an experienced teacher there doesn't have to be masses of prep, especially if you are doing one to one. It can be less intense to fit around children too - you can just take on 2 or 3 pupils for an hourly slot weekly through the year.

For exam invigilators you normally apply direct to the school. Its NMW work, odd hours and often training is unpaid. You would earn a lot more tutoring.

Thanks for your response. I’ll take a look at Capita! Thank you. I know it probably works out as a lot of work for not very much- but a grand every exam season would be nice.

I am umm-img about tutoring. I just know I’m going to have my hands full and really don’t want to commit to tailored tutoring sessions and have to prep for said sessions before I show up.

Tutoring also does not appeal to me.

I do exam marking and worked my way up at the exam board to being a senior examiner and now I can drop a day at school!I enjoy it. It's intensive but something I'm really skilled at now.
