Primary Teacher - Tricky point in career

Hello, I’ve decided to post on here as I really need an opinion outside friends/family.

I am a current Year 6 teacher (after 2 years in Year 4). I started in September 2019, meaning my first two teaching years were disrupted by Covid. It is a small school, and I know the parents and children well across the school.

I am currently in London and will be leaving the city next year for September 2023.

I have only ever taught in my current one form entry school. This year we received a RI from Ofsted. Our school roll has also fallen quite a lot over the past year as a result of this. However, behaviour is good, and some things are good.

I’ve seen another similar good school elsewhere. It is a lovely school that focuses on wellbeing etc. However, I’m just not sure whether it is worth moving just for one year (when I am definitely moving out of the city), or I stick at my current school, despite its issues.

Any thoughts? Thank you so much in advance.

Personally, I would stay where you are if you are definitely only staying there a year. Seems like a lot of stress to apply and prepare for interview if you will only be there a year. And, I firmly believe that its better the devil you know!

I would definitely stay another year. When you start applying for schools in your new area a move now will look odd to them.

Stick your current school I would say. One year will soon pass.

Is the school different in some way? Larger? Different demographic? Can you gain experienced that will help set you apart at interview next time and further develop your skills? Are you interested in developing in that way? I would apply, it's good to have experience in different schools, and even one year in a different school can boost your CV and help you stand out at interview.
