Non specialist applying for specialist role

Changed username for this. I trained as a primary teacher but have been teaching secondary for the past 10 years and a shortage subject for 5 of those years. I am teaching up to higher tier GCSE level. I’m becoming increasingly unhappy and stressed in my current school for a number of reasons so I’m seriously considering looking elsewhere. I am unsure what my chances are of getting a job as a specialist teacher teaching my current subject in another school. Im also at the top of the upper pay scale which is another obstacle. I just wondered if anyone else had been in a similar situation and to find out what my chances are of finding a job elsewhere. Another option would be to look at some sort of subject enhancement courses if these even exist? Any help or advice would be appreciated.

If it's a shortage subject and you have five years' experience surely your chances are good?

@JanglyBeads
Thanks, that’s what I was thinking. I have seen 3 possible vacancies but all of them say honours degree in the subject in the essential criteria of the job description. I’ll apply anyway and see what happens.
