Dp sick pay confusion

Hi my dp has been off sick after a major health scare in October. I just wondered if someone can tell me how to work out what his 1/2 pay would be. He's on ups2 so wondered will it be half of his net salary so he would pay less or no tax or pension contributions. He is also going to be doing a phased return so waiting to hear about how that will work pay wise too. Any insights so gratefully received.

If you put in half the ups 2 salary in to the Martin Lewis salary calculator (£20062) and a pension contribution of 8.9% it calculates it as £1345 per month take home pay. I use this and it's accurate to with 50p! It does depend how they calculate the 50%.

If you try it yourself it will show you the calculations so you can check it's correct can compare the the full salary. I didn't check the contribution rate for the pension but I earn 30k and think in the same bracket (I'm part time)

Neu have guidance on phased return suggesting full pay for an agreed term eg 4 working weeks then back full time.

Google "phased return teacher"

Good luck with everything

Thank you I did try a take home pay calculator but then wasn't sure if he would pay tax, pensions ni on it. Its more important of course that it is done slowly and he feels well enough to be in school. It's been such a long road to get to this point. Luckily I think our parents will help keep a roof over our heads.
