capability query

Hi all, I'm so demoralised. I am on a fixed term part time teaching contract which is my first 'proper' job in about 8 years as I was off having children for years. I have been put on an internal support plan which was due to finish this week but they've extended it till Easter. I asked them to be honest and tell me what routes it could take after that point. Answers were a) end review or b)capability.
If it were b, what are my options? Can I hand in my notice to avoid it as I don;t want it to jeapordise any future applications. Or do I just have to accept it, do it and not have another job for two years?
How can I ensure my classses are engaged in the lessons, which is the main outstanding issue with the review. The children all hate me which I have just ome to accept, but how to engage them when they think of me as a piece of poo on their shoe?

TIA x

Honestly - I would just resign. Now.

I'd not go back and leave it off my C.V (although check the legalities of that regarding safer recruiting). It's not worth it for a temp part time post. Go on supply.

It can go few ways

  1. You meet the target and taken of plan but still have to work there.
  2. Your plan is exteneded again and again and this cause you to feel I'll and go off sick and then get caught up in a absence management
  3. You don't pass and get put on formal capability you fail and lose a horrible temporary job and jeopardise you chance of a future career.
  4. You pass capability (highly unlikely although you are only fixed term so might suit them to torture you and then keep you to meet their needs) but still have to work there.

Or any plausible combination

What awful awful awful people to do this to someone on a fixed term contract. They make up targets anyway so Engaging a class is not a magic wand and after 20 years I can say not 100% of my classes are 100% engaged.

I'd collect my stuff surreptitiously, resign and never ever go back. I'd try and flatter them enough I to giving me a favourable reference (open if possible). If they won't I'd get the union involved and many would say do that now.

I wish you the best of luck and it must be a horrible time. Do not believe a word they say.

DO NOT LEAVE IT OFF YOUR CV.
It's against Safer Recruitment and could get you struck off. I'd resign and say it wasn't a good fit.

@JanetandJohn500 thank you for confirming my thoughts.

Wouldn't it be lovely to leave off mistakes like people do in other professions!

I remember now reference has to be current or most recent head.

Yes to 'not a good fit' or 'change in personal Circumstances' too for reason for leaving.

SHOULD be most recent head, not MUST be most recent head. It's a quirk of the guidance. You can leave them off but any recruiting HT worth their salt would smell a rat and ask for further details.
