Anyone a dyslexia assessor?

Hi all, I'm a primary teacher and senco with the senco qualification.
I'm now interested in becoming a dyslexia assessor and wondered if anyone on here is one and what route they took?
Also are you a full time assessor or do it alongside teaching?
I've received all the course info from dyslexia action but it's nearly 8k. Is there any funding available?
Any tips or info from personal experience would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi, did you get a response? I am looking at the courses too. I would be keen to hear of what you decided to do.
thanks

I am an ex teacher and now work as a dyslexia assessor. No longer teach - just assess part time and look after my toddler part time. Trained with dyslexia action back 2015-2017. Feel free to ask any questions.

@tulipsunday

I'd like to know a bit more. Do I have to be working full time when I am training? I've seen something that says you have to have 2 years worth of full time dyslexia teaching under your belt before becoming a dyslexia assessor. This seems pretty heavy handed to me and a bit off putting.

For context I have taught Secondary English for 15 years. I stopped teaching in July for a year off to support my own child with SEN although I am continuing as an AQA examiner and tutor.

That wasn't the case when I trained. I worked part-time teaching intervention groups at a primary school. The first year trained you up to be a specialist teacher (level 5 qualification) and the second year was the assessor qualification (level 7). Different providers are likely to have different requirements and different mode of training so good to look around. My course for instance was all online but I had to film myself doing some teaching and assessments.
