Financial advice by Wesleyan - any good?

We recently had a meeting with a financial advisor to discuss my teaching pension which was useful. Going forward we may also make use of their financial advisor services for future investments etc but this will incur annual charges. I just wondered if anyone does invest or has invested with Wesleyan and whether or not you recommend them. Thanks

No experience myself, but everybody I know who has used them has been happy with them.

Same as above - I have a colleague who consulted Wesleyan and was very satisfied with their advice.

Yes, my school is consulting to leave TPS and I wanted a second opinion. The Wesleyan rep was very good.

Thank you. The advice provided for the TP queries/retirement etc was good. We are now considering the next step as to whether to hire as a financial advisor. Hopefully all will be ok.

I found them to be heavily dependent on the skills of the rep.

One for instance had no understanding of the hypothetical calculation nor how to take advantage of it to protect a current high salary.

The other though acted as a good sounding board and helped me work through and improve my own understanding - however, I would now trust my own expertise over anyone elses.

That's a good point above, valid for all financial advice - the quality varies so check all factual stuff with other sources.

The Wesleyan guy I spoke to was extremely knowledgeable. I teach Economics so normally throw in a question or two I know the answer to, just to check!
