Hi all,

I have just been offered a place on a part time uni-based PGCE. Am also applying for a school direct one. I have 10 years experience in schools.

Which would you choose? I have young children too.....

Is the School Direct also part time?
I think, with your substantial prior experience in schools, that SD would suit you better, as you are straight in the classroom and learning on the job, more than with the university led route.
On the other hand, if you are at all daunted by the academic elements, you might appreciate beig able to focus on them slightly more separately than tends to be the case on an SD course. Our SD trainees complain about having to prepare and submit academic work while buiding their teaching hours, but it is actually manageable- at least, they always do manage it.
My own preference is now strongly SD, but it is very much horses for courses
