Swap being a primary school teacher for an advisor?

Has anyone done this? What does it actually involve?
Any information at all would be very welcome.
Thank you.

Working for whom? MAT? LA? Someone else? Employed or self employed? A particular subject? What would you be advising on?

(I’ve done something similar and love it!)

I have and I like it (except at the end of July each year when I look wistfully at school jobs 🤣).
The holidays are different but in my LA, there are no expectations that I will work above my hours and if I do, I get it back in flexitime so the pros outweigh the cons in my eyes. I also work from home now so it's easier for family life too.
I can't recommend it enough!

Thank you! @JanetandJohn500
Please can you talk me through your average day/workload?

I work 37 hours per week. I usually start at 7.30am and take half an hour at lunchtime. When we're visiting schools, we're out and about all day, otherwise I'm writing reports, responding to emails and answering calls from school staff or attending meetings.
I can wee when I choose, drink coffee when I like and eat lunch at a time of my choosing 🤣
My role is more strategic so although I'm in schools and working with HTs and teachers, I don't work with many individual children.

Thanks - so how would you know how to shape your day as such? I know that probably seems a really daft question but I am so used to the structure of a school day that the idea of being outside of it kind of blows my mind!!Grin

No 'typical' day really. I manage my own diary so unless someone puts a meeting request on there, I decide when to go to schools and when to write reports. If I need an hour during the day, I let my line manager know and as long as I do 37 hours in a week (or 148 every 4 weeks), they're fine with it.

How did you make the move? I am a SENCO and want to move to an advisory role. Just wondering what you need in terms of qualifications. I have nearly finished my masters and want to move to a more strategic role rather than filling in numerous forms and paperwork, which is what my job seems entail at the moment.

I would miss working with children though...and the pension...
