Concern raised for a child

Raised a concern for a child case to safeguarding lead a week ago based on things they told me. I can’t stop thinking about it, I’m so worried about the child. Do I have any right to ask what has been done about my concerns? I don’t want to appear nosey and appreciate the confidentiality..on the other hand, I work with this child every day and it’s deeply upsetting.

You have every right to ask, but they might not be able to tell you more than you already know. It’s horrible though, isn’t it? Flowers

I would go and ask although they may not be able to tell you anything, they may be able to reassure you that it is in hand. Also you've done all the right things by raising it, you have to trust those who lead safeguarding are in the best position to make decisions that protect the child.

Thank you both. I am going to go to the safeguarding lead tomorrow and explain how worried I am. I have to at least do that, it’s playing on my mind so much. Thanks again

The other thing to bear in mind is just how much support you can give this child even without knowing exactly what is happening behind the scenes with your DSL. By being a dependable, predictable figure in their life, you are probably already helping.

I’m sure you know already that you should continue to report any new concerns to the DSL if anything else comes up, and that you can report direct to the police and / or LADO if you feel it necessary.
