Would you go back to work in a school if you were me?

Briefly, I left my job as TA at the beginning of the first lockdown. Difficult decision but the right one at the time so that I could support my family including my own children and elderly vulnerable family members.
I'm just looking at getting back into the workplace and have the possibility of a short term contract in a lovely local school.
However... Covid cases are rising fast in that particular school and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I know so many of you have continued to work all the way through and I have nothing but admiration for you (I think all school staff have been treated appallingly by the Government but that's a whole other thread)
We could do with a bit of money coming in, I miss working with children, but... I'm not sure how I feel about it all.
Any insights gratefully received (you can tell me to get a grip, I have thick skinGrin)

I can't advise but the best of luck. TAs are wonderful. I do Supply and before double jab I ensured2 week gap between schools. Could supply be an option for you? You get some freedom to take time out for home emergencies. Main reason I do this.

Thanks so much for your reply. Funnily enough I have also registered with a supply agency and was about to start with them when the possibility of this job came up, not through the agency. I'm just waiting for confirmation of the job and weighing up my options.

I’m resigned to catching covid in the next few weeks, despite double jab. Our school was extremely lucky to dodge most infections up to now but it just feels inevitable now. I’m not sure what decision I’d make in your place but any school is vulnerable with the total lack of any preventative measures.

Yes you are right. It will rip through schools now I think.

I know loads of people who's kids have had it but not the parents (double vaxxed) - I do think the vaccines are working really well.

Most of my Y13s have had it & about half my tutor group, but I haven't had it. I don't think I'll catch it now - I must have been exposed to it so many times and never picked it up.

Also, I'm in a school that went back earlier than most, & we've noticed there was a flurry of cases in the first couple of weeks, but cases are dropping now.

I'd take the job if you're double jabbed.

I can't imagine that anything much is going to change so you may as well return now - it'll be the same next year and the year after, forever.

Interesting, thanks for sharing that, I'm pleased you have managed to avoid it!
