SLT Unprofessional emails. What to do?

Hi All,

I know compared to some schools, that this will not seem so bad, but it is really bugging me and I don't know what to do

My school's principal has recently retired after being on long term sick for 1 year. All of SLT are Acting and none of SLT have any management experience in others schools. They are all quite new to management.

Since the principal has left, school morale is at an all time low.
The VP and Head can be quite mean and 'bitchy' towards staff. There is never any positive praise towards any staff.

Now what's really annoying me, is staff receive emails at least once a day with snide, cryptic comments about staff.

Here's an example, last week my VP came to my room and told me 'I am so annoyed at you' because I didn't put a letter into child's bag. She told me the principal had sent me two emails. Luckily I was able to show her that I hadn't received them and it turned out some staff emails were down that day! I apologized, she didn't.

I had got over it, but today the principal sent an email to all staff to say last week a member of staff didn't put a letter in and it was 'totally unacceptable.' They never name staff but I knew it was about me.

What should I do? Should I speak to my middle manager? My union?

Here is another example (not about me)
In June the VP sent an email all in capital letters and red font saying this is an example of a bad report and quoted extracts from a teacher's report. Again, not named but it was clear from the subject who it was.

These are just two examples of many.

Any advice would be welcomed.
Thank you

Union, definitely, call them and talk through...the next step then is chair of governors if you have clear concerns, is that someone you feel able to talk about? How do colleagues feel? Could you write to chair jointly with others raising concerns?

It's rude, petty and unnecessary but if no-one is being named directly you can't prove it's aimed at you.

The chances are they are choosing this passive aggressive form of bullying on purpose.

Personally if everything else was great I'd try and ignore them.

Leave. Honestly - you don’t have to put up with this. It’s absolutely unacceptable to treat a professional like this. There are many, many lovely schools who wouldn’t dream of behaving like this. In my school, staff are happy. They is always lots of laughter in the staffroom at lunchtime, and open channels with leadership if anyone is struggling.

Leave.
Life is too short for working in rubbish conditions under poor managers.
