Any other teachers with long Covid?

Caught Covid March 2020 and still suffering from long Covid, which is really getting me down today.

It isn’t constant, it comes and goes but if I do too much then I am absolutely flattened. I have had a busy couple of weeks, I took my daughter on a university visiting trio around the country, then on Wednesday went into London for an annual medical appointment followed by a show. So a late night so I expected to be tired yesterday but not to this extent. Even having a shower left me out of breath.

Term starts on Monday and I am fed up with having to pace myself (basically do nothing social during term time, go to bed at 8) just to keep going. Anyone else in a similar situation?

I haven't got long covid (not officially yet anyway) but had my whole holiday ruined by covid, having tested positive on 6 August and then ill (including two hospital admissions) for the rest and not back at work yet, although I am sure they will want me back soon.

What has your school done to support you vorpal?

I haven’t really told them! I had so much support when my daughter was suddenly ill (totally drop everything in the middle of a class and just go, we got it covered for the next 6 months kinda way) that I am reluctant to ask for more.

The worse was during the first lockdown, but working from home so I could sleep between lessons (!) and my own pride so I kept it to myself.

The GP said I had long Covid around this time last year but I haven’t been back as not sure there is anything they can actually do at anyway. But I might make an appointment just to make sure. They use econsult but symptoms always flag up a heart attack (which it isn’t) which makes it hard to use.

What could the school actually do? I want (and enjoy) to do my job.

Sorry to hear you have been badly affected too, I hope they do give you the time you need to recover.

yes, the frustrating thing is what they can ever do to help with these things.

Teaching is hard since we can't really reduce hours/WFH and it's so intense! In the meantime, I am hoping my school will agree to reducing my workload a bit...
