Going back pregnant in Sept

I'll be going back to work 5 months pregnant im Sept. My first baby, and I wondered if anyone knows what the deal is with duties in pregnancy? I've been put down for 2 duties a week.

Also, anyone thought about what Covid precautions to ask for on my risk assessment?

I am in an independent school, so not sure if I have different rights than in state.

Any advice or ideas gratefully received.

Ps: I did a thread a few months, and I followed the advice I was given on here: to tell SLT before holidays. Thanks everyone who shared their perspectives!

My consultant asked me to think of all of the times when I was closer than normal to children and said that she would support me not doing those things. So playground duty, moving kids around school, dismissing children on the playground at the end of the day, playground duty, booster groups, 1-2-1 intervention. I taught from the front, wore a mask when giving feedback, SLT covered my duties and dismissed my class for me at the end of the day. Consultant asked me to have extra measures in place from 24 weeks and school were fine with it.

Even in normal times a pregnant woman should not be on break duty.

@jubbablub and @AICM thanks both for this very helpful information

I suspect this will depend on what age you teach - I was pregnant teaching reception and 'no outside play' would not have been possible.

I did get 'seating' and was not alone tho..

Also going back pregnant into reception. Only 13+4 but dreading telling anyone as want to keep it secret but as it's third baby my bump is very obvious.

I’ve had confirmation from our H&S/HR person that they have spoken to the local authority this morning and the LA have confirmed that in my personal circumstances, they require me to work from home. No idea what I’m going to be doing as I’m not attached to a class or year group.

@jubbablub How long have you got until mat leave? Maybe they will give you planning. Or if there is any CPD you want to do that could benefit the school... how are you feeling about it? Is this related to Covid or other pregnancy issues?

I think probably 3-4 weeks. I’ve got loads of jobs I can do and midwife/consultant/chiropractic appointments 1-2 times per week. Just related to covid as there’s nothing specific on my risk assessment apart from pregnancy insomnia.

@jubbablub well if you have lots to do, make the most of it. You are so near the end now and as long as they aren't forcing you on mat leave early. Teaching on a bad night's sleep is rubbish anyway! My school are the opposite. They make pregnant women fight for any adjustments!
