Returning to FE

I'm returning to the education sector after a decade out, in particular FE. I was just wondering what's changed recently. I know T levels are new. The tes forums seem to have gone. What's replaced that? Is everything on twitter? Thanks.

I don't work in FE so can't comment on the specifics of that but T level roll out has started. Gavin Williamson is wanting to get rid of BTECs by 2023 presumably so that the only option will be A-levels or T-levels.

From what I have heard, there are some issues with T-levels in terms of organising the work placements for students.

TES forums are no more. Not really been replaced with anything but I come on here a lot and use twitter. Lots of stuff on Twitter is good but I mostly look for secondary/A-level so not too sure about FE.

I'm in a similar position here OP. It does look like Twitter has replaced TES :(

I left as a head of science a decade a go but am returning as support staff - a bit of maths/English support and a bit of pastoral. How about you? I'm looking forward to getting back to a busy workplace with young people, but a bit nervous about getting sucked in to the politics and bureaucracy.

It's a shame about BTECs. Seems another rush job. I've gone from teaching a core subject with a bit of responsibility to working in learning resources with maybe a touch of study skills teaching. I'm also looking forward to being back working with young people but nervous about being back in a potentially stressful environment.

We're quite similar then? I am hoping that being less of a classroom tutor and doing small group work will protect me from some of the stresses - long days due to meetings or consultation evenings, working all weekend, inspections etc.

Yes. Good luck for September.
